SUMMARY:Valencia Street Bikeway Improvement Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Valencia Street is a vibrant commercial corridor with a diverse set of restaurants\, shops\, bars and services. Valencia also serves as a major north-south bike route for those who live\, work\, visit and travel through the neighborhood. As the street has become more popular\, the city has heard increasing community concern about traffic safety and congestion. Ride-hailing services and commercial vehicles are frequently double-parking in the bike lane\, posing safety concerns for all who travel on Valencia Street. \nThe SFMTA will work with the community to assess and recommend safety improvements for Valencia Street between Market and Mission streets. The Valencia Bikeway Improvements project will identify opportunities to upgrade the existing bike lanes given the high volume of cyclists on Valencia Street\, history of bicycle-motor vehicle crashes\, and evidence suggesting that illegal parking and loading within the bike lane is prevalent. The public engagement process will include outreach to local businesses\, public meetings\, workshops and other forums for community input. \nThe planning process will result in: \n\nProposed designs to upgrade the existing bike lanes\nAn evaluation of enforcement and curb management needs\nTraffic flow and safety recommendations\n\nFollowing the planning process\, the SFMTA will prioritize near-and-long term safety improvements for implementation.

SUMMARY:Dolores Garden Club Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Our nascent horticultural society\, Dolores Garden Club will meet for it’s third and most likely final gardening day of this year. So far\, two events\, a growing membership and and an excellent record: Garden Club 2- Weeds 0.\nAt our last event in October we boasted 5 volunteers and turned our attention to the “Pollinator Bed” a very mixed border at the entrance to the Children’s Playground. Big crabgrass issue\, but our Rec and Park Gardener advised us we didn’t need to get them all\, “just clean it up a bit.” It was a fabulously sunny day\, but very smokey from the North Bay fires. We didn’t get all the weeds but had a great time.\nJoin up now and help plan for 2018. Next year there will be sexy tees.

DESCRIPTION:This meeting will be an opportunity for SFMTA staff to report back on the pilot’s progress since its implementation in April and to solicit feedback from community members about the successes/weaknesses of the pilot to date. \nAttached is a flyer for the community meeting. Please spread widely amongst MDNA’s network! We look forward to discussing the pilot’s progress and potential areas of improvement with the Mission Dolores community. \nRegarding your initial request for an SFMTA staff member who can speak towards the Mission red lanes – Sarah Jones (cc’ed here) is the SFMTA staff member you should connect with about MDNA’s September 13th meeting. She leads the planning team at the SFMTA and is handling community relations for the Mission red lanes. \n  \ncommunity-meeting-flyer-072517

SUMMARY:Board of Supervisors' Public Safety & Neighborhood Services Committee meeting
DESCRIPTION:With the support of the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department\, Supervisor Jeff Sheehy has introduced legislation to improve Dolores Park and all parks Citywide. We hope you can join us at the Board of Supervisors’ Public Safety and Neighborhood Services Committee (City Hall Room 263) on Wednesday\, July 12 at 10:00 AM to express your views on this ordinance. \nThe ordinance will: \n\nBan glass in all City parks\, except for infant feeding. This will reduce the hazard to workers\, children and pets from broken glass and is based on a similar ban in national parks.\nAllow park rangers to issue citations under the Park Code\, rather than having these matters referred to the District Attorney. This change will get quicker results when the Park Code is violated.\nAuthorize the General Manager of the Recreation and Park Department to increase fines only at Dolores Park up to $1\,000. This is similar to highway littering fines and will hopefully discourage litter in Dolores Park.\n\n  \nIf you have questions about the meeting\, please contact Justin Jones in Supervisor Sheehy’s office at 415-554-6968. You can find the legislation here or attached. \nThank you for your support in keeping Dolores Park clean and safe for everyone to enjoy!

SUMMARY:Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) hearing on 2117-2123 Market Street
DESCRIPTION:On April 19\, 2017\, the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) will consider its recommendation to the Board of Supervisors regarding the proposed designation of 2117-2123 Market Street (historically known as New Era Hall) as a City landmark. \nThe HPC added 2117-2123 Market Street to its Landmark Designation Work Program on June 15\, 2011\, and initiated the local landmark designation process pursuant to Article 10 of the Planning Code on December 7\, 2016 with Resolution No. 836. Goodlett Place (formerly Polk Street)\, Room 400. Again\, the purpose of this hearing is for the HPC to consider its recommendation to the Board of Supervisors on the proposed designation of 2117-2123 Market Street as a City landmark. The full agenda and supporting documents for this item will be posted to the HPC website no later than Thursday April 13\, 2017 and can be found here: http://sf-planning.org/meetings/18. \nSee links below for further information relevant to the HPC Notice of Hearing\, the Department’s Landmark Designation Case Report from December 7\, 2017\, the Landmark Designation Report\, as well as a copy of Resolution No. 836. \n2011-1124l-nomination-initiation-case-report neh-landmark-designation-report-20170330 r-836-new-era-hall \nneh-landmark-designation-report-20170330 \n2011-1124l-nomination-initiation-case-report
